The Mysterious One (revised)
The black cat twitched its tail twice. It hissed. Then it ran off. The bushes rustled as the cat ran into them. All of a sudden, there was a brilliant flash of light coming from the bushes where the cat was. My eyes, being used to the dark night, hurt because of how bright the flash was. I shielded my eyes from the flash, and when I looked up a saw a boy standing by the bush.
He was about five foot ten. He had blonde hair and stunning blue eyes. I noticed he was wearing a thick black jacket that covered his white tee-shirt. He looked over and saw me then ran off at inhuman speed. I walked over to where he was. All that was there was a black AT&T flip phone. I flipped open the screen and expected to see a picture of something, but there was nothing there. Just a blank screen. The phone was dead.
I took the phone in hand and followed the trail of dust the boy left behind. I traveled from the graveyard, the starting point of where the boy took off. The trial of dust ended at a mansion eight blocks down the street. I knew no one lived there, so I decided to walk inside. The front door screeched as I opened it. The inside of the house was dark; the only light coming from a candle sconce to the left of the entryway. I walked over the threadbare rug and stepped onto the aged wood floor.
I followed a sound that came from the end of the corridor. It lead me to what looked like a sitting room. The room was poorly lit by three grimy windows on the back wall. There was a window in the middle and two on either side of it. They all had black curtains flowing down to the black, tile floor. There were two dark red couches on either side of the room. Next to those were two black cushion chairs. In the center of the room, in front of the windows, was a small, black wooden desk. Everything was symmetrical and organized; just the way I liked it. I heard a sound above me and stepped back. I heard a thudding noise and searched the floor. I saw a piece from the chandelier laying on the tile. I picked it up and placed it in my pocket.
I looked up to the now-broken chandelier and saw it swaying back and forth. There was something on the chandelier. I recognized the object as the boy who had run off at the graveyard. He slipped off of the chandelier and fell down to the ground 15 feet below and landed on his back. I saw his eyes close just as he gasped from the fall. I bent down to check his pulse. His heart was beating normally. The boy had just passed out. I pulled out my phone and dialed my friend that lived just two blocks away. I got up and walked out of the room so I could talk privately if someone were to acknowledge their ringing phone. I waited and waited but no one answered . I put my phone back in my pocket and walked back into the sitting room to find the boy sitting on one of the couches, staring at me.
I sat down on the other couch and when I did, the mysterious boy walked over to a fireplace that I somehow had not noticed earlier. On the shelf above the fireplace was a sword in a glass case. The boy broke the glass and took out the sword. He walked over to me, holding the sword in his hand. He raised it up above his head, aiming straight at me. I tried to move but I felt glued to my seat. I shut my eyes so I wouldn't know when the pain was coming. I heard a whizzing noise by my ear. I opened my eyes to find that the sword had stabbed the couch. I jumped out of my seat to look at what he had done to the furniture.
He lifted up the sword and underneath it was the body of a fuzzy creature. I took a closer look and saw that it was a spider. He had killed a spider with a sword. What's wrong with using a shoe?, I thought to myself. The boy looked up at me then at the spider, then back again. He set the sword on the ground and grabbed me by the arm. I squirmed under his forceful grip. I was lead to the main doorway which I had entered through. He opened the door and shoved me out. I looked up at him to find his face still.
"Hand it over," he said, talking about the AT&T phone I had found. I took the phone out of my jacket pocket and tossed it to him. He caught it with one hand; his eyes still staring at me.
"Don't ever come back here. Forget this old mansion, forget me, and go back to your home." Knowing what he had done to the spider, I didn't ask questions even though I now had so many that I wanted an answer to. I nodded to him, turned around, and sprinted home.
When I got home I crawled into my bed and put the covers over my head in fear that the boy could have followed me. I took a deep breath and drifted off to sleep.

I followed a sound that came from the end of the hallway. It lead me to what looked like a sitting room; though it was bigger than a normal sized one. There were two dark red couches on either side of the room. Next to those were two black cushion chairs. In the center of the room, in front of the windows, was a small wooden desk. Looking around my room, frantic, I noticed it was all a dream. I took a deep breath and went back to sleep.
