Cream Corn!

When you think of Thanksgiving food what makes your mouth water the most? For me cream corn makes my mouth water. In my family every year for Thanksgiving our family gets together and we have Thanksgiving lunch/dinner. Overall cream corn is my favorite Thanksgiving dish!

Stuffing!

Stuffing is the best and most important Thanksgiving dish. Stuffing is not only delicious but also holds a lot of responsibilities at Thanksgiving dinner. According to my mom, she states "Without stuffing, the turkey would not taste the same." At Thanksgiving time, us as kids are probably sitting on the couch or playing with siblings or cousins. But while we are playing, our mom's are preparing for Thanksgiving dinner by stuffing the turkey with, you guessed it, STUFFING! You know that savory taste right when you take that first bite of the turkey, then you mom tells you to stop eating because it is only 2:30? Well that savory taste is delicious stuffing. But stuffing can also be used as a scrumdelious side dish as well (my favorite way of eating it) To conclude, stuffing is by far the best Thanksgiving food EVER!

According to the article on wonderopolis.org (full link listed below), “Thanks to letters and records kept by early American settlers, we know that when the colonists sat down to dine with the Wampanoag Indians, beef and fowl were on the menu. This historical meal would later become known as the first Thanksgiving.” This just shows how important and historical turkey has been. To have turkey on the dinner plate for Thanksgiving is just tradition, and it’s hard to imagine Thanksgiving without it.

What is the best food in our Thanksgiving feast? Corn, obviously; a crunchy yet soft, sweet but briny, juicy and delicious food. Having ancestors both Indian and from the mayflower at the occasion I think I am a perfect medium between the two and enjoy Indian ethnic food and the more traditional and common food which is now the staple of Thanksgiving. The most popular and well known foods placed in almost every table in America are: Turkey, Corn, Gravy, Bread, and the new favorite which was not historically at the occasion; pumpkin pie. According to “Menu for the First Thanksgiving” written by historian Alan Gevinson; boiled corn was not only at the Feast but was prominent; it being a gift from the Indians. Corn is now a common ingredient in many things and is a delicious, healthy, and natural food which fed the precursors of America. Despite its common place on the table as a side dish it was by far the most eaten food at the actual event; if you truly want to reenact Thanksgiving corn should be on your table. In conclusion Corn is the best food to eat at thanksgiving because it was eaten at the first feast and is a naturally delicious food which many of my fellow Americans enjoy eating.

The Best Thanksgiving Food

Sweet potatoes are the best Thanksgiving food because they are delectable, and sweet and orange, plus, they are a vegetable, even if you can't tell that underneath all the marshmallow cream that covers them. Imagine yourself sitting at the dinner table, your family is gathered around you, and there is a glorious smell of food in the air. You see the turkey, lying perfectly on the large plate in front of you, there are mashed potatoes and gravy to the right of it, pumpkin pie to the left, but you have your eyes set on a large pan of steaming, sugary, marshmallow-covered sweet potatoes. Your mouth waters as you scoop some onto your plate. Now what could be better than Thanksgiving sweet potatoes, cooked to perfection? In the New York Times article "All Hail the Sweet Potato" it states, "The sweet potato deserves more attention and even a bit of praise. If you bake a sweet potato properly, you will get a combination of textures that no other food can offer, sweet stickiness, a little bit of crunchy chewiness, perfectly edible." In other words, why give the turkey all the attention when you could be glorifying the sweet potatoes? They are absolutely divine! In conclusion, sweet potatoes are the absolute best Thanksgiving food because they are so delicious, so sweet and also are a vegetable! Forget the other foods, let's all devour sweet potatoes!

This Pumpkin Will EAT You

"There," said my Dad, as he handed me our jack-o-lantern. "Just set it on the porch." So I set the jack-o-lantern on the porch and went inside, little did I know that would be keeping us from trick-or-treating that night.
It all started when I heard screaming outside. "What's that noise?" my sister asked-that a amazing considering that she had her earbuds in and her music was cranked up to the maximum volume. "I don't know maybe it's the pizza guy." I said teasing her. "That's a pretty loud pizza guy." she said teasing back.
"Go open the door."my sister said. "Okay?" I said questioning her so I went to open the door when my Mom called me upstairs "What mom?" I said " Oh, um you need to go clean your room." she said angry "Ok, Geez." I said back "Hey, sis mom's making me clean my room I'll be down in a minute." I said there was no reply so I go clean my room and head back downstairs and the door was wide open and my sister was gone, knowing her, she almost never moves from her spot ever. " Then in that split second I hear a yelping and I see the pumpkin and my sister's hand. Then everything went black.

Mom's secret surprise

"What is that AWFUL smell?" I asked. Then I saw the cauldron full of a bubbling purple liquid. I realized it was mom's 'yummy' secret surprise drink she gives to the trick or treaters every year. It still had the dreadful smell but something was different about it. "Mom? Are you giving your secret surprise drink to the trick or treaters again?" I asked. "No dear. We are taking it to the neighborhood party, did you forget about it?" she said. "Oh, yeah I did." I said relived. Then it hit me, most of my friends would be there, and so would the neighborhood 'cool kids'. they'd taste the drink, either blame me for the taste and beat me up, or make fun of me. "Mom?" "Yes dear?" "Do you have to take the drink? Couldn't we take like cookies or something?" I asked in a troublesome voice "I signed up for bringing the drink I can't change now" My mom said "I changed the recipe up a bit so it will be more exquisite this year!" "Are you sure about that?" "Yes i'm sure! Stop being a stick-in-the-mud! This is the best flavor yet! Why don't you try it to make sure?" I slowly started to walk towards the cauldron, grabbed a red solo cup, placed it into the cold purple bubbling liquid, took it out and pressed the cup to my lip counted to three as slow as I could. "1........2........3!" I chugged down the drink, and to my surprise it was riveting! So, we took the drink to the party and everything turned out fine!
