Every year when Halloween came around, my dad and I would set up for Halloween, but I would call it setting up for Fall because of my deep hate of Halloween.
"Now we need to carve the other pumpkins." My dad said and I headed inside to meet my mother cooking in the kitchen.
Being an only child was lonely, but hearing all the horrible stories from my friends about their brothers and sisters made me glad. But then there are the stories that are so amazing, and it makes me want to go adopt a sister or brother.
"How's the decorating going?" My mom asked as she stood in her dream kitchen which was in her dream house that we just moved into.
My Dad, who was an architect designed our whole house to be our dream house and my family loves it very much.
The only thing I didn't like about this house was it was in a new area which means new school, new friends, new neighbors, and more!
"It is wonderful!" I replied getting the next pumpkin up to the table which we spread newspaper all over.
I loved decorating and so did my dad, but my mom is more of a baker which explains why she was making homemade pumpkin and apple pie(just for the fun of it!).
"Well the pies are in the oven, can I do anything to help?"
"Oh can you order my witch costume on Amazon?" I asked kindly.
"Sure thing." My mom said as she headed upstairs to her office.
"Alright, how about you paint one pumpkin and I'll carve the other?" My dad said as I nodded and got to painting.
After an hour of hard work, it looked like a professional had done our pumpkins!
"Alright, Ella, I ordered your costume and it should be here tomorrow right before Halloween!"
I nodded and we went to put our pumpkins outside right next to the one we made earlier.
"These look great!" I exclaimed and went back inside to get ready for bed.
That night, I dreamed about the pumpkins popping out of my closet and skeletons around my bed.
I woke up screaming, but I knew my witch costume would be coming and that made me feel better.
After I had a great breakfast, I went to take a peek at the pumpkins, but when I opened the door, all of them were gone.
"DAD," I yelled knowing that my master pieces had been stolen. "Come here quick!"
My dad was down in a heartbeat and had his jaw opened wide once he saw what had happened.
"What? Why would someone steal our pumpkins? How rude!" He exclaimed as we decided to get in the car to go look around.
After looking for an hour, we didn't find a single clue, "We will never find these pumpkins!" I said as my dad pulled the car back in the garage and warmed me up some hot chocolate.
I drank the good warmness as I tried to figure out why anyone would be rude enough to steal someone else's pumpkins!
Later that day, my witch costume came, though I was still in the thought of why.
I fell asleep still thinking about the pumpkins, but knowing that I would get to wear my witch costume tomorrow made me fell so much better.
Bright lights the next day woke me up as my mom stood at my door. I looked at the clock and checked what time it was. It was only 6:00 Am!
"Mom! Why would you wake me up this early on a break?!" I asked as she smiled and walked in.
"Well we have a surprise, and we need to get on the road. I already packed you bag. All you need to do is walk downstairs to the garage and get in the car."
"Alright." I said not knowing what they had in store.
It took exactly 10 hours and 13 minutes to get to our location which was Long Island, New York. I was very patient but soon got frustrated.
"Why did we travel to New York from Florida?!" I asked confused and mad at the same time.
"Well we decided to...." My mom stopped speaking and whispered something in my dad's ear.
"Never mind. You'll find out later today though." My mom turned back around as my dad continued to drive through the city.
Soon enough, my dad arrived at a super nice and fancy hotel and we checked in.
I went to sit on my bed and turned on the TV before my parents stopped me.
"Don't you want to know what we are doing here?" My dad asked as I nodded and put the remote down.
"Well we are going to a haunted house that is in a amusement park."
"Really?!" I asked as I got super excited, but also butterflies flew in my stomach just thinking about the Haunted House.
We got back in the car and my dad drove us to the amusement park where we would go in the Haunted House on Halloween.
"Three tickets for a full pass and three tickets for the Haunted House." My dad spoke to the person at the desk as we were given lanyards with our tickets inside of them.
"OK, so what are we doing first?" My mom said as we went straight to all the many roller coasters.
After we hit almost every roller coaster that day, it was 9 at night and we decided it was time for the haunted house.
I walked up to the haunted house and showed the worker our tickets, and he let us in.
Right away, a chainsaw guy jumped out at us and started his chainsaw.
My parents held my close and we continued to walk along.
I had closed my eyes almost the whole time, so I didn't experience the "whole thing", but once I got out, I was filled with a relief knowing that it was all over now.
The next morning, my family drove back to Florida, and once we got home, the first thing I saw were the pumpkins safely on my porch which made my day.
"So, how did you like the amusement park?" My dad said as we sat on the couch admiring the fall outside, and drinking hot chocolate.
"It was OK, I guess." I lied knowing that I had had the most scariest Halloween in my whole entire life!
"I think we might even do something even better next year!" My mom exclaimed.
"I can't wait."
"I can't wait."
Great writing! I like how the story has dialogue (that you nailed) and is well-developed. Double-check the very last line, it didn't make sense. I'd add more sensory details to paint a picture in your head. Really great work!
ReplyDeleteAwesome story I really like how it paints a good picture in my head but maybe add a couple more details to make a little bit of a better picture.
