How to be Successful in Honors English

1. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE: One of the worst things that you can do in 7th grade is procrastinate. This can make your grade go from an A to an NP in the blink of an eye.
2. Look for ways to make your writing better: One way that will help you in this class is to take the part of writing that you aren’t doing well in and work on that skill for future writing, better scores.
3. Be on time to class: If you are always late to class, we start class right when the bell rings so make sure you are in class doing what you need to by the time the bell rings.
4. Make sure you have a book: One thing that is really important is having a book. This is because in any of your free time, you have to read.
5. Check your grades frequently: One thing that helped me this year was always checking my grades. This helped so that I could know if I had any missing assignments in the class.
6. Be at school as much as possible: Whenever I would miss school, we would do a bunch of work so it would take me a few days to get that all caught up.
7. Read as much possible: In the honors class you are required to read 36 books, 12 per trimester, and getting behind stinks because it is really hard to get caught up.
8. Challenge yourself: One thing that has made my year so great was challenging myself. It helped me do greater things than that of which was required.
9. Participate in the activities: Another thing that has increased my knowledge on reading and writing is participating in the activities that we have.
10. Have fun doing it: One of the most important things is having fun and just enjoying being in the class because it will help you along the way.
